ACADEMIC STAFF

Eden staff are carefully selected, not only for their qualifications, but also for their enthusiasm, empathy and desire to see their pupils achieve their best in class and out of class.

Eden staff:

  • research new topic areas, maintaining up-to-date subject knowledge and then devise and write new curriculum materials;
  • create and develop schemes of work;
  • work in teams for planning and managing the curriculum and greater school;
  • prepare and deliver lessons to their classes and put up displays in the classroom;
  • mark work, give appropriate feedback and maintain records of pupils’ progress and development;
  • select and use a range of different learning resources and equipment, including computers and internet;
  • undertake pastoral duties, such as taking on the role of class teacher, and supporting pupils on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties;
  • prepare pupils for qualifications and external examinations where appropriate;
  • manage pupil behaviour in the classroom and on school premises, and apply appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehaviour;
  • participate in and organise extracurricular activities e.g. outings, social activities and sport;
  • afternoon sporting and cultural commitments;
  • punctuality and attendance of all classes, meetings and events participate in departmental meetings, parents’ evenings and whole school training events;
  • liaise with other professionals, such as learning mentors, careers advisers, educational psychologists and education welfare officers; attend meetings and courses for continued professional development;
